Shintori Sushi in Santa Barbara - FAIL!

Let’s just say I work around the corner, and this is only my second time there since they opened…I will not be returning.

I eat a lot of Japanese, and this may have a Japanese name, but their soul is not. There is no traditional greeting when entering, and in a place this small you think being seated would be a breeze when there is an open table. Lunch is a time when most business people need to get in, order the lunch special and get back to work within an hour. Sorry, it is the American way. It is why you have pre fix lunch specials in the first place. So, after 10 minutes of sitting we went to the back and asked for service. Yes, walked to the back! We ordered two ice teas and a water. What we got was two overly strong ice teas from powdered mix. Sweet and Low did not help, and we later even asked for water to thin it down.

Again, we had to ask to order food; two easy lunch specials that came with soup, and an extra two rolls. As they were bringing our lunch out 10 minutes later, we had to remind them that it came with soup. Really? Is this your livelihood? I am not sure what is going on, but miso soup should be easy to make, good tasting and hot. It was not. No need to describe the rest of our time there. $8.99 for lunch sounds like a good sushi deal. You get what you paid for. Stay away, and go somewhere else in town where they appreciate your business and the food is good.

I think Takenoya in Goleta has a lunch special that is cheaper and has a lot more to offer. And eveytime I've gone they've been able to get it out fairly quickly...
